Hi, I'm Abenezer Basazinew. I'm 10 years old, and my favorite subject is Environmental Science because I love learning about nature. My dream is to become a great soccer player one day! When I'm not studying or playing soccer, I enjoy reading books and helping my mom, who works hard to raise me on her own. Life isn’t always easy, but I stay positive and keep working toward my goals.

Arsema Teferi is a brave 8-year-old who loves learning Amharic and dreams of becoming a police officer. She found safety at HMH after a difficult home situation.
Hi, I'm Arsema Teferi. I'm 8 years old and I love learning Amharic. When I grow up, I want to become a police officer so I can help protect people. I used to live in Jimma with my mom and stepdad. Things were very hard because my stepdad was often angry and drank too much. We didn't have peace at home, and I felt scared all the time. My mom heard about Hold My Hand and brought me here so I could be safe. Now, I have a chance to heal and grow in a better place.

Ashenafi Degefa is a compassionate 9-year-old who excels in English and aspires to become a doctor. Her family receives support from HMH during difficult times.
Hi, I'm Ashenafi Degefa. I'm 9 years old and my favorite subject is English. I want to become a doctor when I grow up so I can take care of people the way others have cared for me. I live with my younger brother and our parents, but life isn't easy. My mom cleans at the HMH center, and my dad works in construction. The team at Hold My Hand has become like our second family, supporting us when things get tough.

Hi, I'm Azael Kebede. I'm 19 years old and passionate about civic studies. My dream is to become an architect. I grew up in a tough environment where my father, struggling with addiction, would make me work and take all the money. Life at home was chaotic, so I left and ended up on the streets. HMH found me, gave me another shot at life, and even helped me reconnect with my family—though it didn't last. Now, I'm focused on creating my own future.

I used to live with my mom and siblings after losing my father. When I heard friends talk about how great city life was, I left home and came to Addis. But it wasn't what I expected.
